This precious face bounced around in shelters in Lousiana for quite some time - no known history, they just knew it wasn't good. Those frightened but gorgeous, golden eyes so disconnected from everything around him - when I saw them on Petfinder.com, I knew he was meant to be part of our family.
By the time we were able to connect with someone about him, he was on his way to the West Tennessee Border Collie Rescue. I didn't care, I wanted to bring him home no matter where he was at. But, we had to wait...he had heart worms and was going to begin treatment - so we made a financial contribution to that treatment, filled out forms to adopt him and waited for him to recover. Then, we got the phone call, he was ready to come home!
As you can tell, Fred and Bandit always enjoy a road trip. It was going to be interesting to see what kind of dynamic would come into play with three instead of two. We would just have to wait and see.
The trip was long but fun and the anxiety and excitement grew in all of us as we drew nearer to our destination. What kind of personality would this new guy have, would he immediately fit into our family?
The moment Cody hopped out of the foster's car I knew all would be fine. He was timid, quiet, unsure, matted, dirty and in need of a lot of TLC. Well, he came to the right place!!
Cody stayed pretty quiet and to himself the entire drive home - though periodically standing up to look out the window. Initially I felt sorry for the little guy, but it didn't last long as I knew it wouldn't do him any good. So rules, boundaries, limitations were in place.....but that also comes with a lot of love. Welcome home, Cody, welcome home.
